Since 1999, Breakthrough New York has been at the forefront of efforts to make higher education more equitable and accessible for low-income families. Our staff transforms the lives of highly motivated, underserved New York City students by preparing them for enrollment and persistence in rigorous high schools and colleges. You too can make a positive impact by joining our full-time staff.

Back-to-school season can be both exciting and stressful--we are here to support all our BTNY students as they navigate the path to and through college. And with these backpacks donated by MSCI they’ve got the gear they need! #btny #workhardaimhigh

What do you take away from your work?

“My favorite part about BTNY is the incredible community that I get to be a part of. The students, families, full time and seasonal staff, volunteers, community partners, board members, and other supporters make our work possible every day. I am honored to work with so many talented individuals and to be a part of such a vibrant community that is working towards educational equity on a daily basis.” – Olivia Nuñez Chief Program Officer

“My work at BTNY focuses on managing adults, but the role gives me a multitude of opportunities to interact and get to know students and families. They are the mission; supporting their educational journey is why I come to work everyday.” – Chilee Nleya Middle School Program Director

“I love being one of the first people students and families get to know as they join the BTNY community. The students and families we work with can face some significant barriers on their journey, so to help eliminate some of those roadblocks is very meaningful.” – Enya O’Riordan Admissions & Enrollment Manager
