Why I care about making breakthroughs happen: Coming from a very low income family, I was the first and, to date, the only person in my family to attain a Bachelor’s degree. I know first-hand the challenges that a student can experience, but I also know first-hand the benefits of having such an education.

I received my degree in my late 20’s and it has been that gateway to break the cycle of poverty (mental and financial).

Having a program like Breakthrough, which collaborates with teenagers at that critical stage in the life, is like having that extended family, support, mentorship, guidance to take amazing kids to the next level, thereby developing tomorrow's leaders today. Breakthrough to me = living, loving, laughing, and LEARNING.
