Breakthrough New York pushed me further than any challenge I’ve taken on and put me on the path that I needed to be on in order to be where I am today- it is the root of all of my success and experiences thus far. With the help of the amazing Breakthrough staff so many doors have been opened for me. I think the most amazing thing about Breakthrough is that they believe in each and every one of their students 100%. It was their faith in me that helped me have faith in myself and forge a path that would lead to great opportunities.
The best thing I learned at Breakthrough is the value of persistence and finishing things that you start. Breakthrough is one of those commitments you don’t see yourself fulfilling until you do, and you become grateful to yourself for not allowing yourself to quit. I’ve seen the fruits of my labor.
I’m so glad to have applied to Breakthrough as a fervid little sixth grader; I’ve become part of a community that has grown so much over the years, both together and apart. Through Breakthrough, I got the chance to be exposed to parts of the world, inside and outside of school, that I was never aware of. Being able to head off to a college I had only dreamed of attending in the fall is an incredibly exciting opportunity I’m still getting used to and I wouldn’t be able to be where I am today without the people and resources Breakthrough has connected me to.
I value the Breakthrough New York community very dearly because not only have they helped me throughout my journey, but they have also motivated me to want to do better as I continue to grow as a student and person.
Breakthrough New York helped me realize that it’s cool to pursue your dreams, no matter how ridiculous they may seem to yourself or to others. I would have never imagined that I’d get into so many colleges with the major of my choice. In the future, I want to continue to pursue all of the other dreams that I have yet to fulfill.
I value how much support I have received since day one. Students and faculty have positively pushed me to succeed in whatever I do, which led me to my accomplishments today.
