“I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.” Angela Davis

Area of Expertise: Asking questions and investing in the first generation experience.

Education: B.A. in Anthropology and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies with a minor in Inequality Studies at Cornell University.

Dream Destination: Costa Rica, Greece, Thailand and South Africa

Soundtrack of my Life: A collection of hip hop, R&B, dancehall, New Orleans bounce, reggaeton and Latin and American pop.

Guilty Pleasure: Watching Vine compilations, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again and saying “yikes” far too often.

Hobbies: Listening to music, dancing and making playlists, discovering new recipes and places to eat, painting with watercolors and drawing with oil pastels.

Why I care about making breakthroughs happen: As a first generation college student that struggled with mental health in college, I know that both the road to and through college can be challenging. My summer as a Teaching Fellow at the Bronx Site showed me how motivated, passionate and brilliant Breakthrough students really are. I care about making Breakthroughs happen because our students should not have to simply survive college, they deserve to thrive.
